What’s the Role: Support Worker
What It Takes:
An important part of the staff role is to support our service users who have complex needs and help them to manage their emotions.
So the ability to be resilient, to communicate effectively and to utilise a variety of communication tools is essential.
Our dedicated staff team support our service users to learn and develop their independence skills which includes tasks such as shopping, cleaning their flat, personal care, accessing the community, budgeting, taking medication. Each staff member has something to bring to the role and we encourage staff to use their humour and sense of fun and creativity in supporting our service users with day to day life.
Where You Would Work: Lurgan Road Day Services
Lurgan Road day services offers workskills and day opportunities for adults with learning disability. The social enterprise, Blissful Bites bakery provides the opportunity to develop vocational employment skills within a safe supportive environment. Trainees can develop their skills and knowledge in the following subjects – food Hygiene/ Allergin training/ customer care/ health & safety/ COSHH/ Bakery skills/ retail and packaging skills.
For those that prefer the great outdoors, Cusher Meadow allotments is the place to be. Praxis Care occupy 4 allotment sites at Cusher Meadow and trainees enjoy growing a range of vegetables which they can take home or use at the scheme for lunches. Healthy carrot and coriander is most popular! There is a great sense of community spirit at the allotments with everyone sharing growing tips and swapping produce.
For those requiring a more bespoke therapeutic package of activity or support with behaviour the main building at Lurgan Rd provides a hub for a raft of activities such as relaxation/ arts & crafts / drama , poetry, newsgroup, make up & hair / multi sports / swimming/ social skills training/ group work etc.

Full Time Contract available
£21,557 per annum*
*Salary based on 39 hours per week. Salary dependent on experience. Where the role requires sleep-ins, a minimum additional payment of £45.00 per night applies*
