What’s the Role: Night Duty Support Worker
What It Takes:
An important part of the staff role is to support our service users who have complex needs and help them to manage their emotions.
So the ability to be resilient, to communicate effectively and to utilise a variety of communication tools is essential.
Our dedicated staff team support our service users to learn and develop their independence skills which includes tasks such as shopping, cleaning their flat, personal care, accessing the community, budgeting, taking medication. Each staff member has something to bring to the role and we encourage staff to use their humour and sense of fun and creativity in supporting our service users with day to day life.
Where You Would Work: The Croft, Newtownabbey
The Croft consists of 18 single and 6 double apartments which are all single storey. The development is situated in the Abbots Cross area of Newtownabbey, close to local amenities and is facilitated by public transport.
The Croft has been specifically designed to meet the needs of service users with a diagnosis of dementia who have assessed care and housing needs that make it difficult for them to continue living independently in private and social housing. A full time Activity Co-ordinator is based on site to deliver a range of tailored activities using the communal hub area, gardens and community resources.
Service users will be supported in living as independent a life as possible with tailored care and support to meet individual needs. The development is fitted with assistive technology and will have care and support staff on site 24hrs a day.
Each apartment has either 1 or 2 bedrooms depending upon apartment type with a bathroom, kitchen, dining and sitting areas. Kitchen facilities are capable of creating full meals.
