What’s the Role: Support Worker
What It Takes:
An important part of the staff role is to support our service users who have complex needs and help them to manage their emotions.
So the ability to be resilient, to communicate effectively and to utilise a variety of communication tools is essential.
Our dedicated staff team support our service users to learn and develop their independence skills which includes tasks such as shopping, cleaning their flat, personal care, accessing the community, budgeting, taking medication. Each staff member has something to bring to the role and we encourage staff to use their humour and sense of fun and creativity in supporting our service users with day to day life.
Where You Would Work: Ballyclare Supported Living Service
Ballyclare Supported Living Services is a domiciliary care service offering support to 34 service users who have experienced severe and enduring mental illness. Diagnoses includes Schizophrenia, Emotional Unstable Personality Disorder, ASD, Bipolar Disorder, which can sometimes be interlinked with a learning disability, forensic history and / or dual diagnosis. Housing is provided by Radius Housing / Choice Housing or private landlords, and is a mix of group living and independent accommodation.
The job role includes;
· Recovery-led support with mental health, managing self-harm, suicidal ideation, and emotional support
· Administering medication and supporting service users to understand their medication
· Liaising with the multi-disciplinary teams in a professional manner
· Supporting service users to work towards independent living – acquiring groceries, support to appointments, taking part in activities, budgeting etc.
· Helping service users to work toward goals and aspirations, including updating an Everyday Living Plan and facilitating monthly key working sessions
· Managing conflict / Neighbour relations / Housing support
· Signposting to specialist services
· Computer skills to update care plans, risk assessments, monthly summaries etc.
· Recording skills
· Safeguarding service users

Support Worker
Full time contracts available
£21,131 per annum
*Salary based on 39 hours per week. Where the role requires sleep-ins, a minimum additional payment of £45.00 per night applies*
